The place for all things basketball

Catching the ball correctly is an important part of making sure your shot is consistent. If you’re always bringing the ball up from different places and catching it in different spots it’ll be harder to stay consistent in draining jump shots. So here’s where you’re going to want the ball when shooting. First of all you need to catch the ball in the right shot pocket (by your rib area or higher that corresponds with your shooting hand) Remember catch high, keep high we don’t want to shoot from our bellybutton or hip. This means that if you’re right handed you’re catching the ball already with your hands in a position to shoot the ball with your right hand on the back and left hand on the side. Catching the ball here will help you get a shot uo quicker and sell pump fakes better. The second thing is learning how to find the laces on your shot, unfortunately players don’t always know how to or don’t have the time to pass it on the laces in a game, practice flipping the ball, purposely catching it off the laces and then quickly changing it to the laces to get a shot off. Same thing goes for a pull-up, practice dribbling the ball and then finding the laces. Shooting from the same shot pocket each time and always finding the laces will help you shoot a higher percentage and have a more consistent shot.
