The place for all things basketball

For this drill you’re going to want to set it up like this: A player on offense in each corner with a defender on both of them, then a guy with the ball on the but this players defender is going to have their back turned and the offensive player is going to hold the ball on their back, once the player with the ball goes he has to drive right or left and the other two defenders are going to need to help to keep them from scoring, the drill is live after the offensive player with the ball drives, to make it more difficult you could start the on ball defender BEHIND the offensive player.
Coaching Points: First make sure both defenders are in proper help side before it even starts, the defender in the near corner should be just a bit off ready to swipe (always swipe up) at the ball if the offensive player drives to their side and the opposite corner defender should be in the middle of the paint to stop a drive. Make sure that the defense is rotating correctly, for example if the opposite help corner defender picks up the player driving the original on ball defender should sprint to guard the player in the corner. Next, be sure the offense is making quick decisions, this is a decision making drill, don’t let anyone on offense be a ball stopper because it disrupts the fast-paced aspect of the drill. Finally make sure the players in both corners are shot-ready in their shooting position so that they can get their shot off quicker before the defense can rotate over to them.
