While finishing may be becoming less important in today’s game with the three point shot, it’s still vital that you’re able to finish plays and basic layups no matter your size. Besides what’s the point of being able to beat your defenders with elite ball handling if you can’t finish the play at the rim. While the three point shot is huge today, so are players who can do everything well including put pressure on the rim. So with that being said use the drills in this finishing section to help you score more at the rim, even with defenders in the way.
Some important things to keep in mind when working on your finishing:
Being able to adjust in mid air is SUPER important
Finishing off two feet as often as you can will help you keep your balance + get more free throws
Footwork is just as important as the actual shot, learning how to do all sorts of steps and two steps will help
Finishing through contact is necessary
Developing a soft touch for floaters is important because you can’t always get all the way to the hoop
