The place for all things basketball

Nowadays people say people don’t play defense anymore, which is insane because it’s half of the game. As T.J. McConnell said playing hard is a skill because if it wasn’t everyone would do it, and that’s a lot of what defense and rebounding comes down to is playing hard and the effort that you put into doing it. In order to make it to the next level you have to play defense and at least box out and unfortunately there isn’t a magical drill that is going to make you do that, so you simply just have to want to do it. This section is going to include a lot more defense/slash rebounding tips because while more than half of defense and rebounding is effort, the other fraction is speed, strength and agility. So don’t skip this section because you don’t think you have to rebound, especially guards who think they don’t have to rebound, or if you think you’re too cool to try hard on defense, because at one point you may wish you played harder.

This section will include

How to meaningfully talk on defense

A few defense and agility drills

What to watch for in film

How to guard quicker/bigger players

Being physical without fouling

Specific defensive tips

How and when to box out

So pay attention and start wanting to give 110 percent playing defense and rebounding the ball.
