The place for all things basketball

Learning to manipulate your hand over the ball is key to improving your ball handling and here are 4 drills you can do to learn ball manipulation. Keep in mind these are all done with ONE hand First you’re going to dribble the ball outside your hip in what is called a Push-Pull dribble continue to do this until you’re comfortable. Then you can move into between the legs dribbles with just one hand start by bringing the ball between your legs from behind you and do that as many times as you can without any dribbles in between. After doing that for a while now switch to dribbling the ball through your legs from the front of your body. For the final ball manipulation technique dribble the ball over your opposite foot (left hand over right foot, right hand over left foot) then dribble the ball behind your back regularly without taking dribbles in between. So it should be one dribble over your opposite foot then one dribble behind your back into the hand that corresponds with what was the opposite foot. You can continue doing this back and forth until you get the hang of it. Once you can do all these drills well combine them into a circuit that you can do. (For example 2 push pulls, 2 front BTL, 2 behind BTL, and 2 over your foot behind the back dribbles then switch sides.) If you aren’t getting the importance of these drills it comes down to being able to move the ball around your body WITHOUT dribbling.
